In reading The Secret, it says that there is only one law – The Law of Attraction. I find this to be an important law, but do I think it is the only law? This certainly is the one that has grabbed all the headlines since the movie and book came out, but I think there are other laws too. I think they need to be explored and used to truly gain control in my life. But since this is the star attraction at the moment and the most easily researched, I think I will start with the Law of Attraction.

Does everything that happens in my life happen because I attract it? Am I only manifesting my own vision of reality? What about all the other people in the universe? Do their actions affect my reality? And, of course, there are those troubling questions: “Why isn’t it working for me?” “Why do I still have problems?” “What about all those people throughout the world that are starving, persecuted, tortured, murdered, raped? Is this what they want? Is this what they are visualizing?” I have to think not. Then is it just a bunch of caca? It seems to work for Wayne Dyer, but does it only work for him because he is making money off the rest of us fools?

Well, maybe I need to read on to get the answers to these questions?

A grateful heart

Isn’t the real miracle the fact that I am alive? Shouldn’t I be grateful that I am here at all and just participate in the day. Let the universe plan my day for me and just show up? I think that is part the secret of abundance. Realizing I already have abundance, and just participating. Stop all this incessant ‘I want’, ‘I need’.

It really isn’t that I HAVE abundance — not in the usual sense of the word. I don’t have all the things I think I need. I don’t have all the money I think I need, the car, the house, the possessions — but the truth is I AM abundance. I have life. Everywhere I look around me, life is abundant. I AM LIFE. Doesn’t it stand to reason then that I am abundant? Shouldn’t I just show up with a grateful heart? Today, I am going to work on that.

The Law of Attraction during a recession

DOES THE LAW OF ATTRACTION REALLY WORK? Then why are we in a recession? We all want to be prosperous. Most of us have spent our lives working hard to try and get ahead — but what a mess the world seems to be in. Is The “Law of Attraction” all a hoax? Does it really work? Can we be prosperous even in the current difficult times? I think these are questions a lot of us have asked ourselves. I know I have. I have had an interest in metaphysicis since I first learned about it. I was thrilled when I read “The Secret” and went on to read “The Law of Attraction” and books by Catherine Ponder, Ester and Jerry Hicks and others. It all seemed so easy — and now so hard. But if there is any truth to it, then it should work ALL the time. It should work NOW. Sooooo — there’s only one way to find out. Here I go with myself as researcher and subject, experimenter and experiment.
